About

A small team that would rather do four things properly than twelve badly.

Riftware Technologies is an IT consultancy and services company based in Mangaluru. We work with companies that have outgrown their current systems and need someone to build the next one — and then look after it — without the theatre that usually comes with it.

Our story

We started Riftware after years of watching good projects fail for unglamorous reasons. Requirements that nobody wrote down. A stack chosen because it was interesting rather than because it fit. Handovers where the documentation was a Slack thread.

So we built the practice we wanted to work with. Engineers talk to clients directly. Estimates come after a real scoping exercise. And we stay on afterwards — maintaining, monitoring and improving the software, so going live is the start of the relationship rather than the end of it.

We are deliberately small. That means we turn down work that does not fit, and it means the people you meet in the first call are the people who write your code.

Our work spans web and mobile products, machine learning systems, low-level system software and the cloud infrastructure underneath all of it. The common thread is that it has to keep working for years under real use, not just on launch day — usually with us still looking after it.

What we believe

  1. 01

    Understand the business first

We ask what the process looks like today, who does it, and what happens when it goes wrong. The architecture falls out of that conversation, not the other way round.

  2. 02

    Choose boring technology on purpose

We reach for tools with long track records and large communities, so your software stays maintainable by any competent developer — your own team included — and never depends on one person knowing a clever trick.

  3. 03

    Ship in slices

Something real and usable goes live early, then grows. It surfaces the wrong assumptions while they are still cheap to fix.

  4. 04

    Leave good documentation

Runbooks, architecture notes and a working local setup come with the code — so your team is never locked out of their own system, whether we are still involved or not.

  5. 05

    Stay after go-live

Launching is the easy half. We maintain, monitor and keep improving what we build, on a support arrangement that suits you — and we will take on software somebody else wrote.

Working with us

What the first month usually looks like

Week 1

Discovery

We sit with the people who will use the software, map the current process and write down what success means in numbers.

Week 2

Scope and estimate

You get a written scope, an architecture outline, a timeline and a fixed price or a rate with a ceiling. Nothing starts before you approve it.

Weeks 3–4

First working slice

A narrow but real piece of the product goes into a staging environment you can click through, with a weekly demo from then on.
